We have not seen a lot of each other since I moved to Canada, although anytime I did, it was like I saw her yesterday - always very comfortable and warm. I spent much more time with her in my teens and very early twenties and she was a great role model for living life to the fullest and ignoring the conventional (aka stifling!) norms of society. I particularly enjoyed her parenting - she obviously loved being a Mum and focused on the fun aspect of that toor. My Dad and Diana used to tut about " the Dr Spock approach to parenting" but I thought it was the best thing ever and it was a style I embraced as a parent and, now, grandparent - my grandkids know they can make a mess and a lot of noise at my house and I will help them!!! Georgie was also always very interested in my love life and not only fixed me up with a couple of boyfriends but always gave sage advice about relationships and sex (gasp) - a topic seldom, if ever, broached by my parents!!! I loved her dearly and always enjoyed spending time with her. I still have a small blue Willow Pattern coffee cup and saucer that she gave me from her dinner set many years ago - it followed me to Canada and has pride of place on what my son Chris calls "my knick knack shelf" - I have promised to leave everything on there to him in my Will !!
